This white china plate meas. approx. 7.75 inches across with blue decoration.
The central decoration are crossed Union and Confederate 3rd National flags in an oak wreath superimposed over a crossed saber and rifle with the dates “1863-1913” between the flags. Above the flag is a riband that reads “FIFTIETH ANNIVERSARY OF BATTLE OF GETTYSBURG JULY 1-2-3-4.” Moving clockwise around the plate from the riband at top the rest of the decoration is a bust of General Meade, Meade’s Headquarters, the Pennsylvania Memorial, Lee’s Headquarters and a bust of General Lee.
The reverse of the plate has a blurred maker’s mark but it clearly states that it was made in England.
The plate is in wonderful condition with no signs of wear and no chips or cracks.
