Two piece coat sized Virginia Militia button (Tice VA229A1-Alberts VA 15.) Face has slight push and some discoloration from ground action. Reverse has depressed mark that reads “HORSTMANN & ALLIEN N.Y.” but no shank.
A modern label with the button says it was recovered by the late John Cullison along the Confederate retreat route just west of Gettysburg.
