The Mannlicher-Schönauer rifle was designed by Ferdinand Mannlicher and the rotary magazine by his protegee Otto Schönauer of the Österreichische Waffenfabriksgesellschaft; now Steyr Mannlicher. The Mannlicher-Schönauer has a split in the rear of the receiver which allows the bolt handle to pass through.

The Greek Army purchased a carbine and a rifle and both were termed Model 1903. It is chambered for the 6.5×54mm MS cartridge, a 725 mm barrel and has a rotary magazine. Chamber is marked Y.1903 under the Greek crest. Tangent leaf front sight is graduated from 200 to 2000 meters.

This Model 1903 is marked STEYERR 1907. Wood stock is in good condition with no cracks. Nice finish with no rust or pitting. Good bore.
