The Model 98 is the most famous of all Mauser rifles. It is a bolt action rifle chambered for the 7.92mm cartridge. It has a 29-inch barrel and a 5 shot flush magazine. The stock is full length and the handgard is half-length. Some versions have a steel grommet through the buttstock and finger grooves on the forend. Early sights were adjustable from 400 to 2000 meters. M98’s are marked with “GEW 98””, date and makers name. It has a cleaning rod and a bayonet lug. 3,500,000 Model 98’3 were manufactured between 1898 and 1918.
Offered is a model 98 manufactured by Mauser A.G. and dated 1917. It has a nice stock with the grommet and a half-length handguard. The side of the chamber is stamped cal 8 mm TURKEY. It has been chambered for the 8x57mm Turkey cartridge.
