A nice looking 1892 Winchester showing about 90% barrel blue, strongest near muzzle and aft of the nose cap, with color shifting slightly to plum between and slight rubbing near the magazine band. Front sight and rear adjustable buckhorn sight in place. Tang mounted peepsight in place with lots of good, deep blue. Magazine blue is very good. Nosecap a bit shiny from handling. Receiver bottom, top and raised edges show gray, but flats have pleasing, thinning blue shifting more to brown on right. Good color on loading gate. One screw missing. Screws on left show thin color. Lever and hammer show thin mottled gray-blue from casehardening. Rubbing to edges of tang above peepsight with blue shifted to brown at center. Buttplate is shiny. Wood has tight fight, good color, with minor scratches on left, scratches and one small divot or pressure dent on right. Numbers and lettering are sharp. Barrel measures 23 1/2". Bore has good rifling and is in nice condition; mechanics function well.
These were a lighter frame version of the M1886 often with same chambering as the M1873. They were made 1892-1941. This one is serial number 205831 giving it a 1902 date and is .38 WCF. [sr] [ph:L]
