The overall length of the weapon is 52 ½” with a round .52 caliber barrel that measures approximately 32 ½” long. Bore is clean, bright with strong rifling. The surface of the barrel is lacquered brown color. Front sight is mortised into the barrel at the receiver and the rear sight is mortised just forward of the receiver; both are offset to the left which originally allowed shooter to sight around the frizzen. Barrel is held to the stock by three iron bands with the middle band having the sling swivel attached. These bands are held in place with pins through the stock.

The casehardened breech has nice color overall with almost no pitting. Area where flintlock components once were is visible but conversion work was done well. Percussion hammer is in excellent condition. Forward section of breech is stamped “J.H. HALL / H. FERRY / U S / 1832”. Breech block raises and sets properly. Hammer/trigger mechanics are crisp and strong.

Walnut stock has an attractive deep, rich color. Stock is very nice and has very few of the usual dings and dents found on muskets this old. Inspector stamp behind trigger guard tang.

Buttplate is present as is the correct triggerguard with sling swivel. Ramrod is present and full length. All these iron pieces match the rest of the gun metal.
