This is a US Model 1842 Percussion Musket manufactured at Harper’s Ferry Armory with a .69 caliber barrel. The lock is marked “Harpers/ Ferry/ 1847” behind hammer and has a wingspread eagle over “US” forward of hammer. The barrel is dated 1846 on tang with appropriate Harper’s Ferry initials and VP/Eagle on barrel. All metal is smooth with semi-bright finish. This musket has a super nice smooth bore. 100% correct weapon! Mechanically perfect. Weapon has choice condition walnut stock with excellent, correct inspector’s cartouche. [ss]
