Nice Federally inspected example. .58 cal. Lockplate marked “U.S./COLT’S PT. F.A. MFG. CO./HARTFORD, CT”. Rear of lock dated “1862”. Barrel breach marked “1862” with appropriate proof marks. Tang also stamped “25”. Mechanically perfect. Very fine condition bore.

Walnut stock with pair of “GOOD” inspector’s cartouches. Ramrod bottom with screw portion cut off. There is a section of the stock approx. 2” long along the comb section with a piece splintered away. Barrel breech marked “STEEL” along lower left flat near breech.

Overall a very nice example.
