.69 cal. Original flint. Lockplate is marked with an eagle over “US” forward of the hammer and “SPRING/FIELD/1830” to the rear. Barrel breech with standard Springfield proof marks with tang dated “1830”. Barrel flat on side marked “S.M. CO.” Walnut stock with light coat of varnish with nice pair of inspector’s cartouches. All metal semi-bright, smooth and with scattered dark speckling. Musket was no doubt cleaned years ago. The face of the frizzom has been refaced or milled slightly. Bore is VF with only a slight amount of fine pepper pitting. Nice looking firearm.
