.58 cal. percussion. Dated on barrel and lockplate 1864. Mechanically perfect. Both Federal inspector’s cartouches visible opposite lock side of stock. Stock has light coat of varnish. Smooth semi-bright metal with only very minor scattered pitting near nipple area and breech area. Bore is good with some surface accumulation scattered the last one third of the bore. Might clean up nicely.

Strong wing spread eagle and “U.S./SPRINGFIELD” forward of lockplate. There is a small thin black stain which runs across the stock 4” forward of the butt plate. A nice example of a Civil War weapon produced at Springfield Armory.
