This is a M1903 Springfield, serial number 972699. It was used in WW1 and was rebuilt before WW2. The original receiver dates between May, 1917 and November, 1918. The barrel is marked “SA” over 4 – 30, date of manufacture. Finish is blued. Stock is an S type with two screws and finger grooves. Wood is in good condition and has an A.H.B. / R.I.A., P in a circle as well as small W and J sub-assembly cartouches. Buttplate is smooth. Bore is very bright with good rifling.
