Exceptional Like-New example of the highly sought-after “Black Widow” Luger used by the Germans in World War II. Principal markings include: “9847y” (serial number); “byf” (manufacturer); “41” (date of manufacture); eagle over “655” (German military acceptance stamp); “P.08” (model designation for Pistole 1908). The condition is exceptional with 98% of the blue remaining! The bore is perfect and seems very few rounds were fired through it. The pistol is fully functioning and all the serial numbers match. The magazines are both the correct “Black Widow” type with black Bakelite plastic tips and no serial numbers. As designated by the “byf” manufacturer’s code, the pistol was made by Mauser-Werke AG, Oberndorf am Nekar. Mauser manufactured 126,000 P.08 pistols in 1941, but only a small percentage were the “Black Widow” variant. Based on the serial number, this pistol was made in November 1941. What make this example special is that the pistol comes with a mint holster and spare magazine! The holster is marked “cea” (for maker Heinrich Thiele AG, Dresden), “1942,” and with a military acceptance stamp (eagle over “WaA706”).
“Black Widow” Luger rigs in this condition rarely come on the market! Excellent opportunity to own a collector grade classic German pistol made at the apogee of German conquests in 1941! [SK]
