This rare glass souvenir flask dates from the late 1890s and celebrates the U.S. victory in the Spanish-American War. It is shaped like a miniature Army canteen and measures approximately 4 ½” in diameter. Back side features embossed “U.S.” filled with red paint. On the other side is a wonderful lithograph under glass with an image of an eagle resting on a Stars and Stripes shield with U.S. and Cuban flags crossed behind. The bottom of the label in small type is: “E. Packham Jr. & Co. Manufacturers, Baltimore, MD.”
There is a metal screw-on top and a twisted cord “hanger”. The mount on the right side has broken off leaving a small hole and the knotted chord is stuffed into the flask.
Interesting souvenir from the Span-Am war. [jet] [ph:L]
