Revolver has a 5.00-inch octagon barrel that has approx. 20% of its blue remaining over the length of the barrel. Left flat has a strong stamping of “ALLEN & WHEELOCK, WORCESTER. MS. US / ALLEN’S PAT’S SEPT 7, NOV.9, 1858.” Muzzle has a brass blade front sight mortised in place. Bore has good rifling but is dirty and needs cleaned.
Frame and cylinder are of iron. Cylinder is six-shot. Some blue remains on the hammer and there are hints of it forward of the grip. Action works properly. Cylinder is tight at full cock.
Wood grips are in very nice condition with minor wear at bottom edge and scattered indentations at very bottom.
Mechanism for releasing the cylinder works properly.
The weapon really does present well and only needs to have the bore cleaned. [AD]
