This Colt Walker comes with all of the original packaging as well as documents. This revolver has never had the cylinder rotated or the action worked.
The 9.00-inch barrel retains all of its original blue as well as the front sight. Top of the receiver is marked “ADDRES SAML COLT NEW-YORK CITY.”
The loading mechanism retains all of the case colors. The arm of the mechanism ends in a point and is not held by any latch.
The receiver has all its blue. It is decorated on the left side with a large gold scroll engraved with “THE COLT HERITAGE.” The opposite side has two gold medallions flanked by scrollwork chasing. One medallion bears the image of Samuel Colt while the other shows Samuel Walker. Between the two medallions is engraved “1847.”
The six-shot cylinder has a beautifully engraved battle scene with two very nice scrolls. One reads “MODEL U.S.M.R.” and the other “COLT’S PATENT.” Of course, the bluing is excellent and all the nipples are perfect.
The frame and hammer have superb case colors.
Wood grips are in mint condition with each side displaying a deep crisp military inspector’s cartouche. Trigger guard is of brass.
The serial number of the revolver is “57” and can be found on the barrel and receiver as well as the frame, cylinder, trigger guard and grip frame. Since this weapon has never had the action worked we did not remove the wedge pin to check, but there is no reason to believe the number on the wedge would not match.
The revolver comes housed in its original packaging from Colt with the Styrofoam insert to protect it and the black cardboard box in excellent condition. Even the original yellow caution tag is present on the inside. Black box exterior has “THE AUTHENTIC COLT BLACK POWDER SERIES” in gold with a bust image of Samuel Colt and a facsimile autograph. Still attached to the inside of the box lid are the Colt instruction manual for the item and an advertising brochure. The box also comes housed in its original plastic packaging.
Also, with the revolver is a sealed box containing a large book titled “THE COLT HERITAGE.” The box is the original packaging which shows the book bears serial number “57” to match the revolver.
The last item in the group is a very nice wood display case which meas. approx. 19.50 inches long x 10.75 inches wide x 5.25 inches high. The interior is lined with green felt. Under the lid is a black leather label that reads “THE COLT HERITAGE” in gold stamping. Inside of the case is a removeable wooden frame. The case is designed to hold the revolver in the bottom with the tray raised above the revolver having a cutout to seat the large book described above. In this way both the revolver and the book can be housed within the display case.
The case comes with all its original packing.
All three items listed above come in their original shipping box, which is still in nice condition, and all original inner packing.
If you are a Colt collector this set would make a wonderful addition. [ad]
