Like new Model 1851 Colt with 100% blue on barrel and six-shot cylinder. Revolver also has strong case colors on loading lever and frame. Square backed triggerguard and grip frame have silver finish. Wood grips are perfect. Action is good. Cylinder scene is crisp and 100%. All stops are present and all nipples are good. Weapon bears serial number 21897 on all parts. Top of barrel crisply stamped “ADDRESS SAML. COLT NEW YORK CITY” and left side of frame is marked “COLT’S PATENT” in two lines.
Revolver comes in a beautiful wood presentation case that meas. approx. 15.50 x 7.25 x 3.00 inches. Box has brass catch and hinges. Top center has an engraved plate that reads “COLT 1851 NAVY” in two lines. Exterior wood is in good condition and the bottom is lined with red felt.
The interior of the box is lined with blue padded felt. Lower half of the box is segmented for accessories. These include an original bullet mold for conical and round balls, a reproduction powder flask with a decorative body reminiscent of the Batty Peace flask but marked “COLT’S PATENT” and bearing a facsimile of Colt’s signature on the cap rim. Spout is slightly bent. Also present is a reproduction black tin which contains percussion caps. Tin bears Colt’s signature in gold on its side and the lid face has a green “ELEY BROS.” label. Also present are five reproduction Colt pistol cartridges, eight conical bullets and eleven round balls. All are reproductions.
