Smoothbore pistol has an overall length of approx. 15.00 inches. The round iron barrel is 9.00 inches long and is .75. There is no front or rear sight. Barrel surface is somewhat dark and lightly mottled with scattered light pitting. Some light bluing is visible near the muzzle. Left side near breech is stamped with two proof marks of a crown over crossed scepters over a V. Barrel tang has linear decoration. The bore is fair with light dirt.
Lockplate has a dark patina and is weakly marked forward of the hammer “C. H. GILKS” with a better LONDON” stamping below it. Hammer operates properly. Nipple is a reproduction.
Wooden stock is original but it has been refinished. The wood is in good condition with numerous small scratches. There is also a closed crack running three-quarters of the way around the grip. Left side of the stock is clearly stamped “C. H. GILKS / MINORIES / LONDON.” All furniture is brass. Mounted style swivel ramrod is iron and works properly. [ad]
