Produce about 1851 this revolver came with one and two trigger varieties. Only 125 were made of each.
The revolver meas. approx. 12.00 inches long overall. It has a .36 round six inch barrel with a brass bead front sight. Bore has sharp rifling but is dark and dirty. Below the barrel is the loading lever with a plunger that tucks under the barrel until used. Lever operates properly. The barrel and loading lever are a dark gray in color and show hints of blue. The rest of the metal on the weapon is the same.
The top of the frame bar is faintly marked “SPRINGFIELD ARMS CO.” There are two screws holding the frame bar in place. These show light wear. Barrel and frame bar wiggle a bit.
Cylinder is six shot and has all the original nipples present. No decoration is visible on its surface.
Iron frame and hammer has a nice scrollwork decoration. Right side of frame has worn marking of “WARNERS PATENT JAN. 1851.” Hammer holds at half and full-cock and indexes properly but is a little sloppy. Cylinder spins at half-cock and wiggles a bit at full.
The backstrap and triggerguard have a delicate decoration to match the frame. Walnut grips have a brass screw and escutcheon and are in good condition with light wear. Under grips is serial number “50.”
An interesting revolver made in low numbers. [ad]
