Presented here is a M1854 12mm Lefaucheux pinfire. Handgun was designed and produced by the highly-acclaimed inventor of European firearms, Eugene Lefaucheux. Referred to as the Model 1854, the Lefaucheux revolver is a single action, standard military caliber arm produced at his licensed production facilities at Liege, Belgium. In good overall condition, the pinfire revolver measures an overall 12” long with a six-shot unrebated cylinder matched to a 6 1/8” long, round barrel. Sidearm is a 12mm (approximately .44 caliber) model with a plain cylinder with the six safety cams and the six pin slots. The cylinder is stamped with “E / LG / *” in an oval. Most other metal parts also bear sub-inspector marks consisting of various letters with a crown. Entire gunmetal of the revolver wears a gray surface of light pinprick pitting. Serial number “35943” is stamped on the right side where frame meets barrel. The maker’s mark visible on the left facet of barrel reads, “E LEFAUCHEUX” over "INVR BREVETE". Bore is clear with sharp rifling. The iron trigger guard fits the frame and exhibits the distinctive spur. Revolver’s grips are two-piece black walnut in good condition with smooth even wear and no cracking or chipping. Buttplate has the metal lanyard ring. Mechanics need minor work. It does not stop at half-cock. The cylinder does indexes well. Loading gate is intact and functional. Ejector pin has been replaced.
