Here is a very attractive original Civil War era .30 caliber pepperbox style revolver. This is the distinctive pattern made by the famous firm of Christian Sharps of Philadelphia and is maker marked on the side of the frame. These guns were designed using the 1850 patent of Christian Sharps. The left hand side of the frame has the remnants of the 1859 patent date stamped into the brass. Rather than have the barrel rotate they have the striker on the inside of the frame that rotates when the hammer is pulled back. This striker is present and still rotates. It has matching serial numbers of 11,102. The barrels slide forward to allow for loading the .30 caliber rimfire cartridges. This is the model 2 that has the barrel release on the front of the frame on the underside. The release is complete and accounted for. One the handle of the gun it has the original gutta percha grips. They have a great look with the checkering. This is a nice displaying Civil War era pepperbox revolver from the famous Sharps Company.
