This revolver is listed by serial number 26244 in John McAulay’s book Civil War Small Arms of the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps, page 141. It is listed as having been inspected on Dec. 8, 1864 at the Washington Navy Yard.

.36 cal. 6 shot percussion revolver with 7 ½” octagonal barrel. Brass trigger guard. Top flat of barrel marked “E. WHITNEY / N. HAVEN”. Also marked with a small anchor just forward of the frame. Rare engraved Naval Engagement scene on cylinder is difficult to see, which is the norm for these pieces. Two piece walnut grips. All metal is smooth with gun metal gray color. Mechanically perfect.
