Example of the famous New Model 1858 Remington Army Revolver in percussion 6 shot, 44.caliber with a 8” octagonal barrel. The readable markings located on the top flat of the barrel is: PATENTED SEPT, 1858 E. REMINGTON & SONS. ILLION, NEW YORK U.S.A. NEW MODEL. Approximately 132,000 were manufactured between the years 1863-1873. This particular pistol contains the serial number of 112067 and retains about 60% of the blued finish along the length of the barrel. The actions of both the hammer pull and cylinder are crisp and tight. All of the percussion nipples are present and in good order, without damages. There are however, some minor surface dings located on the cylinder, but nothing that would hamper its operation. The receiver frame and loading lever exhibits some slight signs of light pitting on the remainder of the case hardened surface. The original walnut grips are present and in excellent condition along with a very pronounced inspector’s cartouche (in script GR) stamped into the lower left side of the grip. An above average condition Civil War revolver.
