MODEL 1861 COLT “ROUND BARREL” NAVY REVOLVER

$1,995.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: G3269

Nice example of an early war period .36 caliber Colt navy revolver. The matching serial numbers of 3213 places this at a production date of 1861. This pistol is comprised of a 6-shot cylinder, 7 1/2”round barrel and a creeping style loading lever. The grips are of one piece varnished walnut. This particular pistol is not martially marked, lacking inspector’s markings on the grip and on the frame.

Overall condition:  A deep grayish patina covering the iron metallic barrel, frame, cylinder, loading lever and hammer. The original engraving located on the cylinder, which depicted the battle between the Texas Navy and that of Mexico is no longer visible, but the stamped serial number of 3213 is visible. The actions of both the cylinder and hammer are very crisp and all 6 nipples are present and are in excellent undamaged condition.  There are other condition issues, with some minor scrapes and moderate surface dings located on the foremost 3”length of the barrel (tops & sides). The muzzle end exhibits roughness and signs of at one time being filed.
