Here is an original, .44 caliber, Civil War era iron bullet mold in very good condition. Formed like a set of pliers, the pistol bullet mold is center-hinged and has two 5” long iron handles. Each handle near the hinge has a wider, flat area in which two shallow depressions are ground out to form a .44 cal conical bullet and a .44 cal ball when the outer handles are closed. A flat iron sprue cutter pivots at the hinge and has two small openings in which to pour molten lead when the outer handles are closed. Surface very good with a dark gray patina and light scattered rust pitting and surface grime.
