Cardboard box meas. approx. 3.25 inches long x 2.25 inches wide x 1.50 inches tall. Box top has been cut around three sides to open it. Inside is wrapped package of percussion caps plus 4 extra. There is also a very fine condition Smith patent cartridge and the original tie string from the box. Label on box top reads “10 POULTNEY’S PATENT METALLIC CARTRIDGES, PATENTED DEC. 15TH 1863 – 12 CAPS FOR SMITH’S BREECH-LOADING CARBINE, NO-1 50-100 CALIBER. ADDRESS, POULTNEY & TRIMBLE, BALTIMORE, MD.” Printing is dark and crisp.
