This is an original .69 caliber round ball cartridge. Composed of a .69 caliber round ball wrapped in cartridge paper and tied with tan string above and below the ball. The cartridge paper is in excellent condition and features the regulation folded tail on the bottom.
The overall length is approximately 1.7” long. This is too small a powder charge to be for a musket, leaving this to likely be for a .64 caliber breechloading Hall carbine. See specimens on page 81 in “Development of the Paper-Wrapped Musket Cartridge in Colonial America” by Rodger Brown.
