Here is a good, representative iron mold for Navy revolvers (.36 caliber). Two cavity type; one round ball, one conical ball. Typical Civil War-era mold faintly marked “Colt’s Patent” on top of sprue cutter. Cavities show some nicks around the edges.

Integral sprue cutter is attached at the hinge pin. Dark patina, with light surface rust.   [jet][ph:L]
