Offered here is a nice example of a .54 caliber round ball mold for the early Model 1841 Mississippi rifles.  Iron scissor-type mold with a single cavity for casting a .54 caliber round ball.  The front edge of this mold features a cutting device that was used to remove the sprues from the balls. Round ball cavity remains clean and in excellent condition. “US” stamped on one arm. Approximately 7.5” long. The mold exhibits a light brown tone in places over light gray iron.  [jet][ph:L]
