Scarce box of .44 Henry flat rimfire cartridges. This 50-count box, with 43 cartridges remaining, is from the United States Cartridge Company.
The box is constructed of cardboard with a blue label on the top and a “wrap-around” label that sealed the four sides. Labels are light blue with black printing. All five labeled surfaces prominently feature the logo of a large circle with “US” in the middle. The top reads, “50 Cal. .44 HENRY FLAT / RIM FIRE / METALLIC CARTRIDGES / For Model 1866 Henry and Winchester Rifles / and Colt’s Rim Fire Revolvers / MADE IN U.S.A. / THE UNITED STATES CARTRIDGE COMPANY, / NEW YORK, N. Y., U. S. A.”
The two ends read, “50 Cal. .44 HENRY FLAT / RIM FIRE / METALLIC CARTRIDGES / BLACK POWDER” while the front and back panels read, “50 Cal. .44 HENRY FLAT / RIM FIRE CARTRIDGES / MANUFACTURED BY THE / UNITED STATES CARTRIDGE COMPANY, LOWELL, MASS., U. S. A.”
This box is very collectible with the nomenclature that includes "Model 1866 Henry and Winchester Rifles and Colt's Rim Fire Revolvers".
The box is open and still contains 43 "US" headstamped cartridges. These boxes are one of the few .44 Henry boxes that also refer to Colt rimfire revolvers on the label.
The overall condition of the box is good, retaining about 98% of the labels. There is edge wear, some light soiling, and a few splits at the corners and box edges.
The cartridges are all in fine condition.
A very nice box of cartridges that would display well with several very popular weapons. [jet] [ph:jet]
