TWO PIECE “CS” PLATE WITH REPAIR

$950.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 998-650

Cast brass two-piece tongue and wreath “CS” plate in good condition.

The keeper that is attached to the wreath separated at one time and has been repaired. There is very little evidence of the repair from the front but on the reverse, it can be plainly seen.

The back of the tongue bears a carved Roman numeral “IV” while the wreath is marked with a Roman numeral “II.”

The face of both pieces has a light patina with scattered spots of oxidation or verdigris. Tongue has a strong “CS.”

The two pieces may have been “married” together because their fit is not perfect and the keeper on the wreath is a tiny bit larger than the one on the tongue.

Despite the repair and possible marriage, it is still an original two-piece CS plate. [ad] [ph:L]
