Here is an early bullet mold to cast huge .75 caliber musket balls for Brown Bess and other P1842 type muskets. Made of iron this mold measures approximately 6.75” long overall. This is a scissor-type mold with an integral sprue cutter built into the handles. The mold opens to show a large cavity to cast a .75 caliber round musket ball.
There is a small “tongue” on the front of the mold to keep halves aligned. The cavity is clean and good with no nicks or dings.
Iron remains in good condition with only scattered light surface rust.
A very nice example of an early mold for very large musket balls. [jet] [ph:L]
