This small powder horn measures about 5-inches from tip to tip. It is cream colored at the base, with some gray in the middle as it shades into light and then dark brown. The spout is nicely turned, forming a flat disk, central bead narrowing toward the top, and similarly slant-sided mouth, the three elements separated by well defined grooves. The concave plug is attached by small tacks, has a small, brass button finial, and looks like a softer wood. A modern string runs from it to secure an elongated wood stopper. Originally a cord likely tied around the lower groove of the spout, which shows some wear, and ran to the bottom finial, with a secondary string running from the upper groove to the stopper.
