This is an original .69 caliber Buck & Ball cartridge. Composed of a .69 caliber round ball with three .31 caliber buckshot on top. Wrapped in cartridge paper and tied with string between each portion. The cartridge paper remains strong and features the regulation folded tail on the bottom.
Cartridge paper is dirty and has had a few holes repaired; still has displayable side.
This is a solid example of this multi-projectile round that was used in smoothbore muskets by both sides throughout the entire war. [jet] [ph:L]
