Excellent flat top cartridge for the .44 Henry and M1866 Winchester rifles or the Colt, Remington, and Smith & Wesson revolvers. This particular cartridge was manufactured by the Phoenix Metallic Cartridge Company. Two groove bullet, copper case with headstamp of a raised "P" within a recessed circle.
The Phoenix Metallic Cartridge Company was in South Coventry, CT. Owned by Joseph Merwin and Milan Hulbert and operated in the 1870s.
