SCARCE, UNOPENED PACK OF SMITH CARBINE CARTRIDGES

$950.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 490-2021

It is rare to find an unopened pack of Civil War cartridges, let alone Smith carbine cartridges.

These are the paper and foil cartridges manufactured under Poultney’s patent.  The patent (#40,988 dated December 15, 1863) was originally granted to Thomas Rodman and Silas Crispin who assigned it to Thomas Poultney.  The cases were made of brass foil and paper with a perforation in the base. Similar to cartridges for the Gallager, these are shaped to fit into the receiver of the Smith.

Perfect pack with well centered label and tear-string on the side.  [jet]
