Brass bullet mold half measures 6 ½” long and of European design. For the rare, Confederate imported LeMat revolver. There is a small piece of the other half attached at the hinge pin. The other half broke at a weak spot where the large bullet cavity is located. The mold has cavities for a single .40 caliber elongated ball and two .28 caliber round balls. The elongated bullet was loaded in the cylinder and the small shot was used to make a buckshot charge for the LeMat’s secondary shot barrel mounted on the underside of the gun. A small oval maker’s mark is visible but unreadable. Brass has a nice aged patina.
A very displayable half of a rare bullet mold for a rare Confederate revolver. [jet]
