CARBINE CLEANING BRUSH

$65.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 516-223

This cavalry carbine cleaning brush device is an excellent example of a tool or implement used to clean out the barrel bore of breechloading carbines during the war. Carried by most Federal cavalrymen, the item consists of a 4” long, cylindrical brush connected to a brass ferrule that secures to a 28” long length of leather tong. Brush had stiff circular bristles that would scour the barrel bore when the leather tong was dropped down the breech and then pulled outward from the muzzle. This cleaning brush is a fine representative specimen of Union cavalry equipment.   [sm]
