Used in the famous Sharps carbine and Sharp’s rifle, this ammunition specimen is a rare .52 caliber combustible paper cartridge imported to the CSA from the English firm of Ely and Company. In excellent to mint original condition, the .52 cal conical bullet and its accompanying powder charge are complete and still encased in the original white paper casing printed with military images and markings. Paper is tight to the bullet base and is clean and free of any surface grime. No tears or perforations visible. This example of a imported Sharps combustible cartridge is a very fine and rare specimen of Civil War ammunition used by the Confederates.
