Serial No. 14210. Lockplate date “1863”. .54 cal., percussion single-shot breech loader. Markings lightly worn, but entirely legible. Barrel exhibits darkened, plum colored patina with light pitting. Semi-bright lockplate, lightly cleaned. Bright brass-work [barrel band, butt-plate & trigger assembly]. Side-saddle bar & ring tight & functional. Rich brown walnut stock exhibits light nicks customary with age & usage. Bore displays light traces of pitting, Else VG. Merrill carbine production totaled 14, 495, this gun [S.N. 14,210] being one of the last produced. Attractive cavalry display piece.
