JOSLYN’S PATENT / OCTOBER 8TH 1861 / JUNE 1862 and the serial number. It is also stamped on the tang. The stock is made from walnut and is cartouche across from the lock plates.
Offered is serial number 5817. All metal has an even gun metal gray patina throughout. Stock show use with dings and scratches and initials 'WI' carved into the wood. Cartouche is very faint. Bore is bright and the rifling is good. Action is mechanically fine.
