Offered here is a very lightly used reproduction of the Civil War classic, .50 caliber Smith carbine.
Buttstock and forearm are of satin finish European walnut. Buttstock is mounted with the original style blued butt plate. Case hardened frame and hammer with great color. 21.5” long barrel mounted with military style blade front sight and flip-up rear sight.
The hinged breech action allows for a quick and easy reload even on horseback. Action is opened by pushing a brass “button” located inside the blued steel trigger guard. .50 caliber barrel is rifled with 3 lands and grooves with a twist rate of 1 turn in 60 inches and a rifling depth of .007". Uses musket caps. Saddle ring and bar are located on the left side of the action.
This reproduction of the Smith Carbine is the CAVALRY version, .50 caliber with saddle bar ring made by Pietta in Italy. Condition is clean and excellent. [jet] [ph:L]
