This rare pinfire/percussion LeMat carbine measures approximately 37 ½” long overall. It features a 19 ¾” long octagon-to-round 11mm rifled upper barrel and 18 ½” long round 20 gauge smoothbore lower barrel. The bores are both dirty. Front and rear sights once mounted on barrel are gone, but there is the V-notch sight on the top of the hammer. The left flat of the upper barrel retains much of the original stamping of "COLLA LEMAT BRTE". This is followed by the number "77". There is a small crown proof mark on the right flat. Cleaning/ram rod remains mounted in tubes along right side. All gun metal is dark. There are numerous small dings on the barrels.

It has a nine round pinfire cylinder which revolvers around the percussion shot barrel. This gun fired 11mm pinfire cartridges. The loading gate is present and works well. Hammer features the LaMat thumb toggle which was flipped up to fire the percussion primed smoothbore charge. The cylinder spins freely and indexes when cocking the hammer and pulling the trigger, but seems a little loose. The rear barrel band would have had a sling swivel which is gone.

This carbine was once broken at the thin “wrist” area. The shoulder stock appears to be replaced. Not a very good wood-to-metal fit leaving small gaps at back of receiver. Metal backstraps (top and bottom) may also be replaced or repaired. Iron buttplate remains but bottom sling swivel was not replaced when restocked.
