Serial No. 16551. .50 caliber, single shot breechloader. Lockplate markings: "Manufactd By/ Richardson & Overman/ Philad./ Gallagher Patent/ July 17th 1860/ [Serial no.] 1655. Inspector cartouche/rear saddle ring bar. Sub-Inspector marking: "W" [rear tang, rear trigger guard, front patch box, patch box interior]. Metal markings crisp, cartouche weak but legible. Period replacement hammer with slightly lighter patina than other metal parts with exhibit a pleasing plumb colored patina. Dusty bore, crisp action. Walnut butt stock exhibits richly dark patina with minor dings consistent with age and usage. Else VG, & attractive with decent Army cartouche.
