Presented here is a seldom seen, original walnut case on excellent condition made to accommodate the M1855 Colt ‘Root’ revolver. The two-piece, burgundy velvet-lined, lockable case measures 9 3/8” long x 5½” wide x 1 7/8” high. Case exterior is in excellent condition with traces of its original varnish. Case body wears scattered light scratches and scuffmarks overall but it does not detract from its appearance. Interior exhibits a crimson-colored, velvet padded backing glued to the brass-hinged wooden lid. Box base is also lined with crimson velvet in very good original condition. Lining is faded, scuffed and worn in areas from use. Box displays the angular compartments to house the 3½” long barreled, M1855 “Root Model” Colt revolver. Case has no tools but does have a number of original lead bullets in the upper compartment. Lining is in very good original condition but does show scattered light scuffing and wear from revolver storage. Box has no case key. A rare, fine wooden display case for the Colt M1855 “Root” revolver.
