This is the iron swivel and snap hook that was on the carbine shoulder belt. They attached to all carbines via a sliding ring found on the left side of all military carbines. Overall length is 8 ½” long. In very nice, bright condition with only minor spotting of darker patina.
Maker marked, “E. GAYLORD / CHICOPEE / MASS”, and “T. J. SHEPHARD / U.S.”
This is a very nice example of an item every cavalry trooper used. [ld] [ph:L]
