Maker-mark: obverse ricasso, “U.S. / C.E.W./ 1863” reverse “Mansfield & Lamb / Forestdale, F.I.” Ding-free blade measures 35” x 1.125” in width at the hilt. Exhibits bright, smooth patina w/light scattered scratching. Washer present. Hilt assembly tight & symmetrical. Brass work displays coppery patina w/ minor dings & light scratching. Original grip is tight, as is the wire wrap, and is good condition, with slight scratching---Scabbard exhibits plumb colored patina with slight scratching. Else VG. An excellent mid-war Mansfield & Lamb cavalry saber, nicely priced..
