(See Peterson, p. 54, fig. 53.) Minus scabbard, and without Ames company & US inspection markings. Though this 26” blade has been nickeled, and partially scraped off on the obverse side, it remains solid and ding-free. Missing washer. Hilt assembly tight and symmetrical. Brass work exhibits light to medium coppery patina, with minor basket dings, & with rack number v-“20M/557” stamped on inner cross-guard. Original leather grip & wire wrap are tight and in good shape. Overall, despite its flaws, this blade will display well. A handsome generic specimen. Nicely priced.
