Overall length of the sword is approx. 33.50 inches. The blade is slightly curved and meas. approx. 28 inches long and is 1.25 inches wide at the ricasso. The blade is dark and pitted throughout. This pitting is especially heavy at the center. There is a fuller that runs along the back of the blade from the ricasso to an area approx.5.25 inches from the point. The edge has numerous small nicks. Most are in the area of the heaviest pitting. The ricasso is marked on one side with the broad arrow and “BO” for Board of Ordnance.

Grip is wooden with no signs of there ever having been any wire wrap. Grip has brass ferrule at bottom. There is a slight narrow crack in the grip starting at the ferrule and running upwards for 1.25 inches. The knucklebow starts at a classic urn pommel cap with capstan rivet and sweeps down to a heart shaped counterguard with quillon. The pommel cap, knucklebow and counterguard are of cast brass. Hilt wiggles slightly. Brass is semi-bright. These swords are usually encountered with an all brass hilt but wood grips are encountered, just not as often.
