This sword is designated a general officer sword by the engraved brass scabbard. Pommel is urn shaped with foliate. Brass hilt has brass guard, folding counter guard and cast quillion. Counter guard brass ball is missing but is easily replaced. Grip is sheet silver pressed to look like wire. The blade has excellent etch, frost and polish. Obverse etch is fan foliate / urn - foliate / US with rays / foliate. Reverse blade etch is kings head stamp (Wyersberg mark) / foliate / eagle - epu ribbon - rays / foliate. Brass scabbard has frog stud and ring attachments as well. Two rings for the top ad one for the middle. Scabbard body is engraved with foliate and eagle perched on a union shield between the rings. Drag is engraved with foliate as well. [ph:L]
