Very bright and mostly clean blade meas. approx. 28.00 inches long with several very tiny nicks on the edge. Ricasso is marked with a readable AMES MFG. CO, CHICOPEE MASS.” on one side while the other is marked “US” over “A.D.K.” over “1862.” The “K” and the number “2” are slightly dulled by minor pitting and mottling. There is no washer present.
Hilt is all made of brass with a ribbed grip. Single knuckle bow with narrow counterguard ending in a quillon has a light patina to match the grip. Knuckle bow is stamped “A. H. C.’ [ad] [ph:L]
